Travelblog

A new hosting service called Travelblog has been setup by the people of mediagonal.ch. Their service is all about geotagging and open blogs for the public, as well as specific aggregation options for their blogs.

The system below is Serendipity, with a few enhancements as you can see on their website. Go and check it out - it looks very promising!

phpDoc: Serendipity Code-Documentation

Since someone constantly nagged me about documentation, I took the time the last few days to include a basic phpDoc style comment syntax into ALL of our Serendipity function declarations. Thanks for pushing me to that. It's a thing I never want to do again. ;-)

I have committed those files to the 1.0-alpha trunk, thus they are contained in tomorrows Snapshots. Everyone who thinks about contributing to Serendipity might like this, in addition to the documentation we have on www.s9y.org

Have fun and a nice weekend, Garvin

Spartacus Outage, Staticpage and other plugins

Because of a problem with accessing our netmirror.org mirror server, the spartacus repository currently only shows listed plugin versions of the last week. New plugins are currently not updated there, so please bear with the service until the trouble is resolved.

We are also working on providing alternate file mirrors, as well as a fellow Serendipity user (MySchizoBuddy) is currently working on PEAR-Channel services for plugins -- many thanks!

On another related note, the staticpage plugin has received an enormous update from Falk Döring today, rectifying a 3.0 version release. This updated version now allows to define custom page types, change the sort order of static pages, fixes some back/previous navigation issues and some more "behind the scenes" stuff. Many thanks to Falk for keeping up his great work.

Another Serendipity supporter that has been overwhelmingly active the last days is Alexander Mieland (dma147). He has provided a boast of cool plugins: A backup plugin, a forum plugin, a downloadmanager and some more: Read the forums.

With your help, Serendipity is able to continue being a great and enhancible blog application. It's great to see the community evolve, keep it up and spread the word! :-)

Hardware going hard on me

Last night the server started getting a little cranky. We are assuming there's something funky going on with the hardware (cpu? ram?) and working on it. The server is back right now, but don't rely on it too much for now...

I'll let you know about any news once I got 'em. Sorry for any inconvenience.
